Storyline

Yagami Light is an ace student with great prospects, who's bored out of his mind. During just another normal day he stumbles upon a black notebook, called the Death Note. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a human’s name is written into the Death Note, then that person will die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, Light realises that the Death Note is real. After meeting the previous owner, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become the God of the new world, by passing his judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way.

However, when the world begins to notice the existence of this unknown killer, this catches the attention of the Interpol and a mysterious detective known only as L. L quickly learns that the killer, known as Kira (derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word Killer) by the public, is located in Japan and that Kira can kill his victims with out laying a finger on them. With this starts war between Kira and L. Whoever is able to find out the other's identity first will be the one to survive.
