Chrono Trigger remake possible, says Takashi Tokita

Posted on 2 April 2008, 8:18 pm by Zadine with 0 Comments.

The director of Final Fantasy IV DS has been interviewed in Nintendo Power's May issue, and talked about a possible Chrono Trigger remake:

"Chrono Trigger was a no-holds-barred, swashbuckling adventure that was a lot of fun to work on... If the demand is great enough, it's certainly possible. But as a creator, I feel the need to create new titles and not just series installments and remakes. I realize it's a little strange for me to be saying that in an interview about Final Fantasy IV (laughs). But I need to remind myself of that, too."

So although it might be possible if the demand is big enough, he himself is against it. That makes sense, but we all hope he'll be convinced otherwise!

All eyes were on this week's Famitsu issue due to Square Enix's promises to publish new information on several of Tri-Ace's games, and everyone were hoping Star Ocean 4's platform will be announced. Unfortunately, according to reliable sources the platform remains unannounced at this time. Some information until the scans arrive:

- 8 pages.
- Character designs for Edge Marverick and Remy Saionji revealed.
- CG shots from the trailer.
- Some town shots that look like they might be realtime.
- Interview with the S-E producer, and Gotanda.
- Gotanda isn't directing Star Ocean 4 this time, he's just a supervisor and responsible for the original story concept.

IGN posted new story details:

"We don't have too many story details at the point, but fans of the series should take note of one important fact. Star Ocean 4 is actually a prequel. It takes place before Star Ocean 1 as warp drives first come into being and humans take their first steps into space. Speaking with the magazine, the game's developers actually admitted wanting to originally call the game "Star Ocean 0.""
